email not going to trash on delete

this is a relatively recent behavior change. email is just deleting instead of going to trash, when the email is deleted, both in usermin and squirrelmail. any ideas?

Is this happening for all Usermin users, or just some?

Also, if a user goes to Preferences -> Deleting mail , what is the "When deleting mail " option set to?

I found the problem. Ownership of the spam and trash folders had been changed to root. The changes are random. We have over 1000 email accounts, not all are affected. Now I have to track down what could possibly be changing ownership on individual folders inside of the Maildir. I did write a perl program to find the Maildir folders owned by root and chown -R them back to username:domainname. I ran it on one domain so far, and it worked. I will check that domain in the morning to see if the problem recurs.

That's unusual .. was mail for those domains perhaps being read or modified via the Virtualmin UI?
