Most of my clients disable the status monitoring since they already check if apache is running. So I want to suggest that SSL certificate expiry monitoring be its own checking instead of having it tied into status monitoring.

You could just set it up manually for each domain with SSL at Webmin -> Others -> System and Server Status, by creating an "SSL Certificate" monitor..
