Fedora 13 x64 Not Supported (Neither is Fedora 12)

I'm trying to migrate to a new server. My server farm has provisioned the server with Fedora 13 x64, but it seems that this distro is not supported.

Is there anything you or I can do to be able to use VirtualminPro on this OS? If not, please let me know ASAP so that I can start the search for a new control panel provider.

Demand for Fedora has been extremely low, so it doesn't get a lot of attention. It's also a really poor choice for servers, because it has such a short lifecycle (upgrading your server OS every ~12-18 months is pretty tedious and prone to downtime). I use it on my desktop, and it's my favorite distro, but I gave up on using it for servers years ago.

Fedora is relatively easy to support, as operating systems go. It usually takes about three or four days of dedicated effort to build and test it for both architectures and build out the repositories. I guess I can hope that if I build it we'll sell enough licenses to Fedora users to pay for that development time (Virtualmin GPL users are more likely to be using Fedora, which does have some marketing value).

But, I'm not in a place where I can do any serious development work right now (driving to Alaska), but I should be able to tackle it in a few days.

How soon do you need it?

Hi Joe,

We've already purchased the new server about a month ago. We're kind of desperate to get this new server into service, so our timeframe is, of course, as soon as possible.

Because VirtualMin Pro does not currently work on Fedora 13 x86_64, we are reluctantly compelled to look at alternative web hosting control panels. This has to be one of the most disagreeable things I've needed to do in some time... what a time waster. While ISPConfig3 does work, it doesn't have nearly the features that VirtualMin Pro has. And, we've looked at other commercial offerings. Can't say I'm happy with them either.

Anyway, please let me know when you'll be able to have this available. It will be greatly appreciated and lend itself to continued patronage.

Are you sure you can't get your server provisioned with CentOS or Debian or Ubuntu instead? If this is a new box you should have a choice of any operating system ... unless there is some reason that you really need to run Fedora, such as needing to use software that doesn't run on any other distribution.
