security-updates still available after install

But when I return to the homepage:

Package Description Version
security-updates Webmin module Virtualmin Package Updates 4.0

Status:
Closed (fixed)

Comments

The same here on FreeBSD 7.x

Yeah, I've seen that as well; I suspect the issue is that just going to the homepage doesn't check for available packages. I suspect that a tool such as collectinfo is actually what updates the available packages (which, by default, runs every few minutes).

For example, is it displaying correctly now?

The first time I tried to install the update was a couple of days ago. Other updates are always processed immediately.

Are you running Virtualmin there, or Cloudmin?

Are you running on Solaris, or Ubuntu? I saw a similar issue today on an Ubuntu system where Virtualmin entries in /etc/apt/sources.list had been commented out..

If you click on the link to show all available packages, what does it show for the security-updates module as the current and available versions?

Also, what version is in the /opt/webmin/security-updates/module.info file?

Package Description Status
security-updates Webmin module Virtualmin Package Updates New version 4.0

I'm not sure where to find the current module for the package?

Ok, so it looks like the 4.0 version of the module isn't actually being installed.

Are you running the GPL version of Virtualmin there, or Pro?

Ok, I see it now .. there was an error in our package updates repository that was causing the old version to be downloaded.

I have corrected this, so if you go to Webmin -> System -> Virtualmin Package Updates and click "Refresh Available Packages", you should now be able to install the new version of the security-updates module.

Oke fixed!

I got a some sort of issue on another machine (opensolaris) running webmin. Installed version is 1.480 and 1.500 is available. I can update without any effect and the installed version still is 1.480

Was this other machine just running Webmin (no Virtualmin), installed from the Solaris package file?

I have a feeling this may be caused by some change in the Solaris package install process.

Which Solaris version do you have there?

Also, if you re-try the upgrade, does it work OK?

No, same issue.

***********************************************************************
*            Welcome to the Webmin setup script, version 1.480        *
***********************************************************************

The setup script is saying it is 1.480?

Which Solaris version is this though?

OpenSolaris Sun Microsystems Inc. SunOS 5.11 snv_129 November 2008

The real issue seems to be that the install of the new Solaris package is failing, but the upgrade process within Webmin just ignores this and re-sets up the 1.480 version.

If you upgrade manually from the command line, does it work OK? You could do this with a command like :

pkgadd -d webmin-1.500.pkg -a /opt/webmin/webmin/adminupgrade

Yes now version 1.500 is running, using the command line upgrade!

Cool .. were there any errors from the command-line upgrade?

Automatically closed -- issue fixed for 2 weeks with no activity.

Now I have a similar issue with:

Now updating virtual-server-theme ..

  Downloading Webmin module virtual-server-theme ..

But after installing version 7.7 stays available for update...

munnik - try another update now, and it will fix the problem. Thanks for pointing this out..
