Plesk 9 backup / Migration failure

Hello Jamie and all the other stunning guys there,

I tried to migrate a plesk 9.2.1 backup in .tar format which I created using pleskbackup -v clients .tar

Selecting default options and Plesk9 backup format after some time of validation I get a notice that domain extraction - or if I explicitely enter a domain that should match, the domain lookup in the file - failed.

Is there anything I need to take care of when creating the plesk backup file?

The file size is about 300MB and I chmod'ed it to a+rw, just to make sure it's not an error due to insufficient file permissions.

Actually I've installed a fresh ubuntu 8.04 LTS system running Virtualmin (latest version) GPL.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards, Dominikus

This may be an issue with Virtualmin's handling of the Plesk 9 backup format ..

Would it be possible for me to get a copy of this backup file? Since it is likely too large to email, you could perhaps instead make it available for download somehow?

I created a new file from a demo account I added before in plesk 9.2.1 and tried to migrate this one. Doesn't work as the other file from another customer created before.

You may download it from http://www.noldmedia.com/download/backuptest

I even added the pleskbackup script at http://www.noldmedia.com/download/pleskbackup

Maybe the script code will be useful for debugging and testing.

Thanks for your quick answer, Jamie.

Thanks for that file - it looks like this is a slightly different Plesk 9 format to what Virtualmin expects.

However, it is easy to support .. just replace the file /usr/share/webmin/virtual-server/migration-plesk9.pl with the one attached to this bug report, and re-try the migration.

Let us know how that goes..

Well done, looks like it works really good now.

Actually I've tried to migrate a really large file (about 900MB) previously backed up using the same plesk backup tool as before (with option clients).

The only thing I'd to do is to manually give the domain name as the client has more than one domain in the backup file and the migration script wasn't able to work this out by itself.

Sub-domains and virtual aliases were extracted perfectly.

Thanks a lot!

Great! This fix will also be in the next Virtualmin release..
