Actually, sounds like you're running on a non-LTS release of Ubuntu, which is wholly untested by us. So problems should be expected; it's interesting that the problems went away when you moved to a 32 bit install, but we can't generally fix issues against systems that aren't Grade A or Grade B supported systems (our testing process is already ridiculously long and involves way too many systems for sanity).
I don't think we've gotten any issues filed against a 64 bit Ubuntu LTS system. But, we'll fix them if they come up.

It should work fine on 64 bit Ubuntu.
Note that we only support LTS releases of Ubuntu in the installer. Non-LTS releases have too short of a lifecycle to be useful on servers.

Virtualmin Pro does function on Ubuntu 64bit but with script stall errors. Had to switch back to 32 bit.
Did you file tickets about those issues? We'd obviously like for things to work well on all supported platforms.

I think so.
