Ok I have never maintained a vserver so I need a bit of guidance here.
I also can't find any docs on this either so can you reply with a howto ?
In specific I don't understand why dns has to hosted on server that couldmin is installed on. Shouldn't the main server hold this ?

The docs for cloudmin are missing....
http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/id,creating_a_vservers_virtual_s...
not found
actually all of them are missing...
This is what happens when you don't think ahead. What you should have done was keep the old site up and disable adding comments/bugs and so on to keep as reference and gave the old site a new name to use such as archived.virtualmin.com

The docs will be available soon, or you can access the old docs at : http://jdev.virtualmin.com/documentation/id,vm2_manual/
I will get Eric to move the Cloudmin docs over to the new system.
Regarding the original question, the Cloudmin master system adds a DNS entry for each virtual system it creates, so it needs to run a local DNS server. Typically this is setup as a sub-domain of your main DNS domain, like vservers.something.com.
Does this cause a problem?
