The signup module is pretty cool (and we have a few customers who have found it and are using it--so I've added it to the repository for ease of installation, and I'll add docs for it, as well). It'd be more generally useful if it had CAPTCHA to make it safer to expose to the world. As it is, it is completely scriptable so bots could create endless mailboxes from which to send out spam.
I know the current intention is to hide it behind something else, for use in intranets and the like...but with a tiny bit of tweaking, it would be useful for free email service.
There's quite a bit of CAPTCHA stuff in CPAN, and I'm happy to add any necessary modules to the repositories, if you find one you like.
