I just updated the system and I ran the check configuration button but it fails now. I am using nginx for my websites but I am getting this error now.

What was the resolution to this issue? I'm encountering the same problem.

The solution was to go to System Settings > Features and Plugins and disable Protected web directories plugin.

New installs will have it fixed automatically.

Thank you! That resolves the issue on my end as well.
