Hello,
I have difficulty with a subdomain. The virtual server is nick.cool (which works beautifully) and the sub server is zip.nick.cool, which times out. What issues might I be experiencing and how might I fix it?

Howdy -- thanks for contacting us!
I did some testing just now, and I'm not seeing a timeout issue when browsing to "zip.nick.cool". I also use a third party tool to test.
Both domain names resolve to the same IP address, so one shouldn't time out and the other not.
My best guess is that you're seeing a DNS cache issue, or browser cache issue.
Do you by chance have another computer you can test from?
