Connection to AWS RDS can't be established error 110

I have been struggling from past few days for getting my server remote DB setup with the AWS RDS to work.

Steps I followed to cross-check:

Created Ec2 instance->Created RDS->EC2 can connect to RDS through CLI. Installed Just Webmin in EC2 server-> made changes in module config of MySQL DB remote host by entering RDS DNS name, it went successfully. Installed Virtualmin in the same EC2 server and tried connecting the RDS, the server cant connect error 110 while connecting to RDS. Neither Webmin, Virtualmin nor through CLI, the server doesn't connect anymore.

Uninstalled Virtualmin completely-> Installed just Webmin and boom..the connection was successful again.

Cant understand why Virtualmin cant connect to Remote RDS server, whereas only Webmin can Plz help. Thanks in advance

Howdy -- hmm, I don't believe you're seeing a Virtualmin bug there. It's possible there's a configuration issue, but I suspect something else is going on under the hood, possibly a firewall or related issue.

My suggestion would be to troubleshoot the issue in the Forums (we monitor the Forums, along with lots of wonderful folks in the community!). Using the Forums, you should be able to get to the bottom of the issue.

If you do end up finding a bug, by all means follow up here, but I suspect there's something else going on there. Thanks!

Hello Andreychek,

Thanks for suggestion, my issue is still not resolved. Made multiple installations from fresh servers to server, Reinstalled Virtualmin and Webmin more than 5-10 times..all are leading to same result.

Even tried with adding MySQL port allow, even disabling FirewallD but no help.

MySQL is not running on your system - database list could not be retrieved.

The full MySQL error message was: DBI connect failed: Can't connect to MySQL server on '' (110)

Please suggest as I think this is Virtualmin issue as Webmin is able to connect without any issue on the same server.
