Hi,
Virtualmin default install is PHP 5.4. Since its EOL are there any security issue I should be aware of?
Or if their are any issues, does virtualmin update patches automatically?

Howdy -- thanks for contacting us!
The PHP version you're seeing there is the one provided by the distro you're using.
In general, Virtualmin tries to use the packages that the distribution provides.
When a Linux distribution such as CentOS 7 ships, they include certain software versions, such as Apache 2.4.6 and PHP 5.4.16.
They continue to ship those same software versions throughout the entire life of the distribution. And what they'll do is backport bug fixes and security updates. to ensure that they're all fully safe and up to date.
They do all that to maintain stability of the software over the life of the Linux distribution.
