Rate of updates and continual changes are really becoming an issue for us

Hi - I'd just like to say that although I really appreciate the effort to build a nicer-looking more flexible theme for Virtualmin/Webmin --

The rate of updates is maddening. Multiple new versions per day is really annoying, especially since running the update often changes the behavior noticeably. This is particularly crazy-making if you have (like us) quite a few servers.

One example. You can no longer turn off the content pane spinner, and Illia seems to not be willing to bring that setting back. But it breaks the functionality for us since at least on all the servers I've tried it on, it means if you do things lik,e RPM updates in Webmin, you can't see what's going on - all you get is the spinner at the top of the page, and no output. I understand that the intention is that this should work properly, but I cannot get it to display anything during updates.

One last thing --- it would be great if these theme updates happened as part of the normal webmin/virtualmin update process - meaning that they'd be RPM's instead of this whole different entity. The inconsistency there is yet one more thing for busy admins to have to deal with. We don't as a matter of course log in to all of our servers in Virtualmin on a regular basis.

Please be kind taking a look at the reply. I have answered your question at https://github.com/qooob/authentic-theme/issues/396#issuecomment-185374541

You can easily just re-disable updates notifications.

Theme is not breaking anything and you must see server-data, like upon RPM updates.

Bringing loader back? For the purpose to see the the old loader or be able to see server-data being push. If it's the last point, like I mentioned, you must see it and the page must be scrolled. (If not it's a bug and will be fixed).

I will look forward for your reply on GitHub to get more details about this matter.

I'm sorry if I caused you any inconvenience with frequent updates. I was asked already about this and I think, I'll just disable update notification feature by default for all. (In case you're Pro user - it's already off by default) and if you turn updates on, I expect you're know what to expect?

The theme already is updated with Webmin, every 2-3 months.

You keep saying it "must" work -- but it doesn't at least on our servers. I appreciate the reply about the number of update,s and we will turn the update checking off. But the spinner REALLY DOES cause us issues, whether you choose to believe it or not. I don't quite understand why you are un-willing to re-introduce a control on the theme that you used to have.

If what you are saying here is that the spinner will clear the screen only after the screen starts scrolling, that's not a sufficient situation for us -- often the screen will not begin to scroll until AFTER all the work is completed. So - we get no feedback until the whole job is finished - perhaps 15 minutes later.

Look, this is not a bug report, it's a request to bring back something we used to be able to control, which was very useful to us. I don't think that's an unreasonable request.

Alright, I didn't expect this to happen really. Most people were annoyed with that. What I tried to do is to improve user experience.

However, what you're saying sounds fair - having what you got is your right. I will try bringing it back.

The reason I don't react adequtly at your bug request as you're saying 'Bring spinner back, I can't see server-data'. This is a contradiction for me.

Because of this: http://rostovtsev.ru/pub/src/authentic/17.71/dismissed_page_loader_upon_...

No, the spinner disappears anytime it has to, it doesn't wait for the page scroll.

As I commented on Github -- it doesn't work on a Linux desktop -- it DOES work in Windows, but none of us work in Windows or MacOS on a normal basis.

Also, note that it's not necessary to use the git version of the Authentic Theme.

Webmin has a version of authentic built into it, which only changes at the time Webmin is updated (which is usually only every 2-3 months).

If you're interested in a slower pace, using the version included in Webmin may be the way to go.

We're going through and turning off the updates from Git --- Actually I didn't realize you were updating through RPM as well, which is really what we'd prefer. Thanks.

Still doesn't help us much on the ones that are already updated, though.

@cruiskeen As my last reply from GitHub says I will create an option in the theme's settings to manage exclusion list for the obstinate modules.

This problem will be solved for good for anyone.

Thanks for taking me to that though.

P.S. As you mentioned, that you only needed the old style spinner to turn it off and get the functionality I'm talking about, I will not bring it back.

@cruiskeen Alright, version 17.72 now has the ability manually to exclude either all (*) modules or some from rendering mechanism.

I'd recommend just to pass the list of module names that are not working as expected and leaving others out to provide best UI.

All update notifications settings are off now by default.
