Just Upgraded to Jessie - Problems with ProFTP

Hi there

I just did the two stage upgrade from Squeeze to Jessie.

After upgrading to Wheezy, I had no problems at all..so I figured I would jump straight to Jessie.

The upgrade went without a hitch, except for Proftpd

Proftpd refuses to start and running "systemctl status proftpd.service -l" gives me the information that it is unable to load mod_vroot.c.

I tried to apt-get install proftpd-mod-vroot but it is "Unable to locate package"

Can I comment this mod out or is there another way to install?

Many thanks

Aaaand nevermind. I decided to just comment out the line and see what happened..

ProFTP sparked into life and I seem to have access to different FTP users etc from my client without issue...

It would be good to know if I need this or not though.

Thanks

Howdy -- I'm glad ProFTPd is starting for you now!

Reviewing the Debian 8 ProFTPd modules, it doesn't appear that module is provided any longer.

Were you using the FTP Directory Restrictions that can be setup in "Limits and Validation"?

I'm curious if that is still functional or not.

Hi there

I am using that for some of the domains, and I logged in via FTP and confirmed that the restrictions are in place as specified.

Doesn't seem to have cost any functionality - Maybe they included that module in the core code now?

Cheers Dave

Yeah it's certainly possible that it's included by default now. I'm glad to hear it's working though!
