Mail client doesn't get mail in my server inbox

I have installed virtualmin gpl and then upgraded to pro. Most things appear to be going OK except that when I send a mail message to a virtual domain email address that I have setup, I get the email in my server mailbox but when I connect to the server from my desktop mail client via Dovecot, I do not get any connection errors but Dovecot does not show the message(s) that are on the server for the user that I logged in as.

Also, it appears that Postfix is not requiring SMTP authentication. I would like to have this setup and I thought that Virtualmin Pro would have tools to easily enable SMTP Auth and TLS support but I dont see anything.
