Getting Started with FTP

I am running an EC2 instance of virtualmin-pro. So far I have just one virtual server, with one site running on it. I want to FTP some contact into that site's public_html folder (pretty basic)

I opened port 21 in my AWS security group and I am using the default FTP/Mail user that was created along with the virtual server.

When I point my FTP client at the virtual server I can login but cannot list the contents of the default location '/'. What do I need to do?

Moreover, I'd really rather drop in to the /home//public_html directory of my main site. Where can I change this?
