Objective: I want to create and FTP log in where the user is jailed in to a specific directory. Under Plesk we did this by create "Web Users" where you get urls like http://wiki.hindu.org/~uploads/. The user and password for this can be given out to untrusted users "outside".. when the log in, they are jailed into that directory, have no email, no ssh rights. OK the corresponding "feature" in Web Min (it may work differently but I really don't care as long as they are jailed into a single directory) seems to be "Add a website FTP access user. OK So I go there..
Website FTP access user details:
enter user "uploads"
real name "uploads"
passwd...
Quota and home directory settings:
Choose, Website subdirectory
enter (in blank, unlabeled field below):
/home/wikihinduorg/public_html/ftp/
Email settings:
email is disable for this virtual server;
Other User Permissions
Log in permissions: Email and FTP (even though email is disable the button lable shows "Email"
Allow access to web directories:
# OK Problem! all the directories in the public_html are listed but not only for this domain but *all* the virtual server in home! (should this not only list the directories in domain "wiki.hindu.org" ?? and I cannot edit them... if you one or all and click "delete" the whole panel just disappears and drops me back into the FTP Users page
Allow Access to databases:
# same problem, I don't what these users to have a ny access to data bases... but if I try to select the listed database and hit the delete key... same thing happens if I try to select and delete those.
I have a 92 meg file in the Ukraine with samples of a book about to go to press over there for us... waiting for log ins to upload... but for these kinds of users far away, I really need to jail them in...
