My automated backup suddenly started to fail with "TAR failed! cat: write error: Disk quota exceeded". A "Check Disk Quotas" didn't reveal anything, and reported OK. However when I did a "Validate Virtual Servers" it gave the following error; "Administration user : Unix group XYZ's quota of 1024 MB does not match the virtual server's quota of 10 GB. I found this error with other virtual servers as well notwithstanding the fact that the "Server administrator's quota" was set at 10 GB. I solved the problem by saving in "Edit Virtual Server" the "Server administrator's quota" to unlimited. Setting the "Server administrator's quota" back to 10 GB didn't produce problems anymore. I have no idea why the "Unix group quota" dropped to 1024 MB.

It looks like the group quota was changed outside of Virtualmin's control, which triggers this validation error.
The fix is to change the domain's quota to something like 11 GB, then change it back to 10 GB again.
