Virtualmin Technical Support

I would like to know how this feature works? If I want you to help me in some way and do some operations over my server. What do I do in order to make you login? I just have to post you in my root password and click enable remote logins? Do I have to create virtualmin-support user?

For some reason I get en error: Failed to enable remote login : Remote login access cannot be scheduled for disabling, as the at command is not installed on your system

Howdy -- some problems are tricky enough that we're not able to resolve them here in the support tracker.

In cases like that, we may ask to access your system in order to troubleshoot the problem.

While you could simply give us your root login details, the benefit of the Remote Support feature in the Virtualmin Support plugin is that when you enable Remote Access, it does so by temporarily adding our SSH keys to the root account there. That's more secure than giving out your root password.

It will remove the SSH keys whenever you specify.

Regarding the error you saw -- it looks like you may need to install the "at" command (which is used for scheduling).

You can do that by running this command as root:

yum install at

This is wonderful! If I ever need this feature, I just provide you the access and leave a message, right?

Could you please tell me if your ssh keys are only stored inside plugin's directory or also somewhere else around my server?

You'd normally enable that if we weren't able to resolve an issue via a a Support Ticket.

At that point we may ask for additional access, which you could provide by using this plugin.

You could then enable Remote Support, and in the comment field, provide a link to the Support Ticket it's related to.

Our keys are stored in the plugin itself, but are copied into the SSH config temporarily when you enable Remote Support.

Thanks a lot, Andrey for clarifying this!
