idn domain - website - dns

Hi all. From few days in Italy we can register IDN domain. I'm using Virtualmin 3.92 Pro on a Centos 5.8 server. I try to register the zone emèmo.it under Server - BIND DNS Server but It says that name is not correct. I convert it in "punycode" (xn--emmo-6oa.it) and I can create it correctly. I can create a new virtual server correctly using wizard. Is it correct that users are create like this "test.emmo-6oa.it"? If I connect to website using "www.emèmo.it" I see "www. xn--emmo-6oa.it", is it correct too? Is it possible to see "www.emèmo.it"? Thanks for your help.

What is the exact error message you got when creating the domain?

Sorry for the delay Jamie.

This is the error messagge, directly from Google translate:
Master zone creation failed: 'emèmo.it' is not a valid domain name

Thanks.

Ok, I see now - the issue is that the "BIND DNS Server" module doesn't currently support IDN domain name conversion.

Why not instead create this domain using the Virtualmin UI, which does the conversion to and from IDN format automatically?

I prefer to use "Bind Dns Server" module because I'm using dns zone format from an old Dns server. If the problem is the module I can convert the name manually, no problem.

What can you say me about this question?

I can create a new virtual server correctly using wizard. Is it correct that users are create like this "test.emmo-6oa.it"? If I connect to website using "www.emèmo.it" I see "www. xn--emmo-6oa.it", is it correct too? Is it possible to see "www.emèmo.it"?

Thanks.

If you use the BIND DNS Server module, you will need to do manual conversion.

And yes, those usernames are expected - because a Unix username cannot contain non-ascii characters, the suffix is based on the IDN-encoded domain name.

I'm not sure why the domain name appears as www. xn--emmo-6oa.it though - does your browser show other IDN domains like that?

Yes, my browser show other domain like "www.caffé.it" like "www.xn--caff-epa.it". I'm using Firefox 14.
But if I test it with IE9 I see "www.caffé.it". Do you think is only a browser problem? Also "www.emèmo.it" is show correctly on IE9.
Thanks.

It could be a browser issue - maybe you need to turn on some preference to show IDN domains properly in the URL?

Ok. Thanks a lot.
