Creating instance hangs...

Fresh install of Cloudmin Pro on Centos v5.8 i386. Registered XEN as the host system and attempted to create a xen vm instance Debian Squeeze Base and allocated with 100 GB disk space. System hangs after its creation while expanding to 100 GB. Now going on 3 hours waiting for it to complete. Checking the List Managed System menu option shows that the status of this new VM is 'creating'. Is this normal? How can I tell if it is still actually in the creation process or is frozen. Tried to ssh but unable to connect.

My system was previously using cloudmin gpl and was able to successfully create a large instance of this size. Hard drive space is 2TB. Any ideas?

If you run top on the host system, can you see any process like e2resizefs running and using up a lot of CPU?

If so, that would indicate that the disk resize is still running.

Interesting. I checked top, no task like e2resizefs.

I checked the status page again a few minutes later and BEHOLD, the status of the new VM is 'SSH'. I guess it just takes a darn long time to prepare an instance of that size. Thank God I didn't set it for 500 GB. I guess I just needed a lot of patience on that one. Thanks Jamie. BTW, for something like this, it would be a good idea to have some sort of dynamic progress indicator.

Please close this ticket. Thanks again, Jamie. Your reply was very quick.

Sounds like expanding the filesystem on the disk took longer than expected. I will add a progress indicator for this step of the creation process in the next Cloudmin release..
