Spamassassin Denied Email Addresses

We've been experiencing a number of issues with spamd, qshape, and email overall. We are working with Canonical on performance issues, but I'm wondering if there is a limit to the number of Denied Addresses I can include in Spamassassin. Whenever I receive an email from a domain that is illegitimate, I will put *@domain.com in the Denied Addresses tab Save and Restart. I currently have accumulated a little over 350 of them.

Could this be a burden on the system, and is there a way to check if some should be removed if they were flagged by one of the blacklist servers Spamassassin "uses"?

On another note, I wanted to make sure that I get an email when one of "my issues" get updated since I cannot always be watching the screen. Thanks

Howdy -- well, every rule added to SpamAssassin is one additional thing that needs to occur whenever there's an incoming email.

So each new rule would mean that an email takes (slightly) longer to process.

That said, I wouldn't think that amount of rules would cause a severe performance problem.

Most of the blacklist servers out there have a website where you can input a domain name or IP address, and they'll tell you if it's listed. You could always go to the website for the blacklist server, and search on the domains that you have listed there.

Thanks for the response. I will spend some time checking the domains that we've been adding to see if we can remove them. I didn't think that was too many, so I'm sure that's not the problem. We are working on an issue to see why qshape does not work properly. Email seems to be running, but qshape displays all zeros even when mail is in the queue. very odd.

PS. I found an answer to my notification question. Thanks

Sorry, I didn't realize that was a question :-)

By default, you should be subscribed to any post you create.

Whenever you make a new post, make sure in the "Subscriptions", it lists you as being subscribed.

If not -- what you can do for future posts is go into My Account -> MESSAGING AND NOTIFICATIONS SETTINGS, and make sure "Autosubscribe" is checked.

As far as qshape is concerned -- that's the behavior I typically see as well, unless I specify a specific queue to view.

For example, there's several messages in my deferred queue ATM -- I can see stats on them by running "qshape deferred".

Thanks. We actually weren't subscribed at all. I set one up for issues and now I'm getting emails for postings. I was afraid I'd get all issues, but happily just my own.

I'm going to have to restart our server tonight. I cannot get qshape to show anything using all variations and prior to our postfix going haywire on Thursday last week (load shot up to 35 - yikes!) when I had a problem restarting it, we would see items in qshape. So something appears to be amiss. I'll see what happens when I restart the server.
