Im using virtualmin.
How to set the default from address so it would look like david@domain.com?
By default is david.user@hostname.com

If you installed usermin as part of webmin, that should be the default behavior.
Are you running virtualmin on this system?

Make sure that in
/etc/usermin/mailbox/config, the following lines are set :from_map=/etc/postfix/virtualfrom_format=1
this assumes that you are running Postfix, and that the file /etc/postfix/virtual exists and contains all the email addresses on your system (which it should by default).
