Message: Failed to save owner limits:Cannot write to directory

I get this message when editing owner limits for a virtual server. I am logged in as root, and when I click the 'return to previous page' link from the page that displays this error, it all my changes appear on the page, so I do not understand what (if anything) virtualmin failed to save or write.
