I realize these are "so 90's" :-), but Virtualmin should have some "counter" scripts available to users that want them. Clients that migrate to a Virtualmin system from another system like Yahoo Domains expect this functionality. I have no ties to any particular counter scripts, but I noticed there are several available here:
