Use IPv6 instead of IPv4

When starting a new virtual server (which I've done many times), I always use a new different IPv4-adress by typing it in under "Network interface -> Virtual with IP: xxxxxxx, already active (an IPv4-adress).

The issue: My problem is that I can't use an IPv6-adress when starting a new virtual server. How can I use an already active IPv6-adress and assign it virtually to my new virtual server?

Thanks.

So to confirm, are you looking for a way to create a virtual server that uses an IPv6 address that is already active on your system?

Ok, I will add a checkbox for that in the next Virtualmin release (version 3.88)

A little hint from my end, if I may.

Until the 3.88 is out, it should also be possible to let Virtualmin handle the addition and activation of the new IPv6 address.

If you have sufficient addresses available, like a /64 net for your server, which for IPv6 is usually the case, you can add an appropriate range to the Virtual IP Address section of the server template. For each new virtual server, Virtualmin will then choose a free address and handle its configuration (add to DNS zone, configure for eth device) automatically.

Except of course there is a reason why you need specifically chosen addresses for new servers as opposed to automatically selected ones.

Thanks, now it works! :-)
