We don't provide the Ruby package, so this isn't something we control. There'd be nothing to prevent you from installing a newer Ruby version yourself, though.
I'll take this as a vote for adding Ruby to the bleeding edge packages repository for CentOS, but I'm always hesitant to take responsibility for more packages. ;-)

Yeah, a newer Ruby version for CentOS would be nice - Rails and other modules are pretty aggressive about their dependencies, and the default CentOS Ruby packages are almost too old to be used..
