We currently use the @domain scheme for usernames and need an ftp user that has access without the domain, is there a way to do that?

The only way to do this currently would be to turn off appending of domain names temporarily, create the FTP user, then turn it back on again. This can be done at System Settings -> Module Config -> Defaults for new domains -> Include domain name in usernames? -> Only to avoid a clash
