xen para virtualisation

hi Im getting my new server this week with cloudmin. Ill be using Xen on centos 64bit.
In this way are the vps's set up as para-virtualisation or just virtualisation?

I though Xen was a transparent layer without needing an OS, but it seems thats only with Citrix and vmware esxi. Using my planned set up with Centos will it make a big difference?
