This thread has some interesting data about Virtuozzo and the way one finds out how much memory is available to the guest system:

It apparently adds a "/proc/user_beancounters" file that contains the user level memory data. This is a silly thing to do, but it's the way this kind of virtual server works, and we'd like to work well on it, so we should probably pull data from there if that file is available.
