Hello,
We are having an issue with forwarding email on a domain in our virtualmin setup. The domain receives and sends email fine, but will not forward consistently no matter where we enable forwarding for the email account.
For instance, the email address: heather@planforsuccess.us, is setup at the administration level to forward ALL email to a gmail account AND deliver normally to the local mail box on virtualmin. The mail gets delivered to the approriate virtualmin mailbox but does not get forwarded at all to any external forwarding address. We have setup forwarding in multiple ways: throught the admin interface, from the usermin interface, as an alias to "catchall". Nothing seems to work.
I am not a virtualmin expert by any means and have reviewed the postfix logs but cannot make heads or tails of what I am seeing. I don't know what to do at this point and really need some help from the virtualmin support team to get this corrected.
Thanks,
Carl Gren

Could you post to this bug the lines that get logged to /var/log/maillog or /var/log/mail.log when you send email to that address? That will show what Postfix is doing. You can watch the log file with a command like :
tail -f /var/log/mail*log

Jamie,
I appreciate the help. At this point I don't have any lines from postfix to show. We've been tinkering with the user defined as opposed to administrator defined forwarding, as well as turning off spam and virus filtering. We ended up duplicating the forwarding rules in both user/admin defined areas and turned off virus/spam filtering.
We observed that turning off the virus/spam filtering immediately allowed the messages to forward. This seems to have resolved the issue but isn't the best fix. Why would spam/virus filtering prevent forwarding?

Perhaps all email to the user was being incorrectly classified as spam or viruses?
It would be useful to see what is logged to /var/log/procmail.log for the user's address when spam filtering is on.

Jamie,
OK. I will continue to investigate per your recommended actions and post an update as soon as I can secure some test time.
Thanks
Carl

You may want to double-check that the email address is spelled correctly (in the above, the domain name is @gmail.com@gmail.com).
However, the logs also show Gmail as receiving the email, so you may want to check the spam folder.
It looks like you're using Virtualmin GPL there though. The area here is for folks using Virtualmin Pro.
