I have to set my permissions t 777 for my blog software(or any web isnterface) to be able to write anywhere. normally i ahve permission set at either 755. In my virt pro I guess the suexec as user works correctly...why is it not working in gpl..or is it not a feature of gpl?

Yeah, the GPL version doesn't support running PHP scripts with domain owner permissions.
However, 777 permissions should alllow writing. What path are you trying to upload to, and what error are you getting exactly?
There is a stickied thread in the Virtualmin forum about running PHP under suexec and fcgid in a Virtualmin GPL system. It's a one-time setup, and takes about 10-30 minutes (based on your experience level), including testing.
