Autoresponders are invisible but active, can't be removed

Hi,

I've set up an autoresponder for an email account using the Virtualmin panel. After clicking on "save" it seemed as if everything went alright but entering the details of that user again showed autoreponders not being active.

(1) Open Virtualmin, select a domain, select "Edit Mail and FTP Users" (2) Choose one account, expand "Mail forwarding settings" (3) Activate the checkbox "Yes, respond with message", enter some text in the box below (4) Optionally enter something in the "Automatic reply options", eg. 1440 minutes minimum time between replies (5) Click on "save" (6) Repeat step 2, choosing the same account (7) Autoreply details are gone (8) Sending email to that account actually triggers the autoresponder, although the form says it's not there

Christian Aust

Sounds like a bug, but I can't re-produce this on my system.

What is the full IMAP login for this user?

Also, if you check the /etc/aliases and /etc/postfix/virtual files on your system for entries for this user, what do you find?

Hi Jamie,

the full user name is effertz-koellen.de (It's the domain admin)

root@big:~# cat /etc/aliases | grep effertz-koellen.de
effertz-koellen.de: \effertz-koellen.de,"|/etc/webmin/virtual-server/autoreply.pl /home/effertz-koellen.de/autoreply-effertz-koellen.de.txt effertz-koellen.de /var/virtualmin-autoreply/123650680932076-autoreply-effertz-koellen.de.txt"

root@big:~# cat /etc/postfix/virtual | grep effertz-koellen.de

I've granted remote login permission for you to have a look if appropriate. Regards,

Christian

Thanks for the login .. I am looking into this now.

Ok, I see the cause .. somehow, the email feature in Virtualmin had been disabled globally on the Features and Plugins page. When I re-enabled this, it all started working again.

I will add a check in the next Virtualmin release to prevent this ..

Jamie, thanks a lot. It works now.

No idea why that had been disabled. Regards,

Christian
