All virtual servers down - unknown cause

I have no idea what has caused these servers to go down but the only way i have managed to get some up and running is to backup/delete/restore every server there is about 63 and I don't want to do all of them

I have done this to a couple of servers because they need to be running

After killing the apache processes running on port 80/443 i restarted the service ok in vitrualmin and sites started to work but displayed a 403 error

[Wed Sep 09 11:05:10 2009] [crit] [client xx.xx.xx.xx] (13)Permission denied: /home/easylife/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable

(there is no .htaccess file on this domain, or any of the others that are producing the same error.)

I have no idea what could have caused this problem as i haven't worked for the company for 9 monthes

On top of all this Email seems to have died completly!

Is there any way someone can take a look at the server and help me out with this?
