Website fails with Unsupported file or mode when a pipe is in the server template.

My server template contains a pipe character '|' which is used for configuring cronolog for custom log files. When I try to add a new website I get this error.

The vserver gets created ok but thereafter the Virutalmin Server list says there is no webserver for the site (but there is). I don't know how to get it recognize that there is a website there.
