Joomla 1.0.15 proposed to be upgraded to 1.5.14 in VirtualminPro 3.72 ?!

Since removing Joomla 1.0.15 from your supported webscripts in VirtualminPro 3.72, we get proposals like this one to upgrade to Joomla 1.5.14 from VirtualminPro pannel:

Joomla 1.0.15 / MySQL demo Version 1.5.14 is available

and emails every day. Very annoying, specially that Joomla 1.0.15 security track record is far better than e.g. joomla 1.5.13 and probably 1.5.14+.

I would be very surprised that you achieved such an upgrade/migration with all database issues solved. Even then, installed extensions won't fit. That's why i file this as a bug, proposing an upgrade that can't be done...as it's not that easy at all.

While I understand that you don't want to support Joomla 1.0.15 when joomla removed official support, it's an issue to remove it already now. Maybe once the first vulnerability in Joomla 1.0.15 core gets discovered ?

Any suggestion how to solve this issue ?

Thanks in advance for your stellar support, Beat

Oh, that's a serious bug. Upgrading in place to 1.5.x would pretty much destroy the install of Joomla, as far as I can tell. (We certainly aren't doing the necessary migration steps in the script, and we wouldn't even want to try, as it's so elaborate and prone to issues.)

Jamie, we should roll an update to fix that.

Thanks.

Probably keeping the rock solid and secure Joomla 1.0.15 as before for now until a better solution is found would be quite ok.

We also still install Joomla 1.0.15 sites for compatibility test purposes, same as we do with Mambo too. So is certainly useful tool to have that still in VirtualminPro.

That warning is a bug .. Virtualmin won't actually let you upgrade Joomla 1.0.x to 1.5.x, but the warning email doesn't know about that :-(

By the way, do you still install Joomla 1.0.15? I recently removed support for it from the installer, but could put it back ..

The warning is also displayed in orange too in the list.

Yes, we still install Joomla 1.0.15 for existing sites getting moved, as well as for test purposes.

Having it still as install option (at least marked as "unsupported") in next version would be nice.

I will put back support for Joomla 1.0.15 in the next release of Virtualmin.

Till then, you can replace the file /usr/{libexec,share}/webmin/virtual-server/scripts/joomla.pl with the one attached to this bug to restore 1.0.15 support.

Thanks a lot. That works. You guys rock as usual.
