[Solded] Virtualmin Webserver, Emailserver different

I got a domain, where i have the webserver and other services on virtualmin, but need to have for some reasons an external Emailserver somewhere else.

Therefore the emailfeature in virtualmin is disabled. The Webserver runs a CMS with a contact form, and whenever someone sends a message, it won't be delivered due the error like "cant deliver because it always bounces back to myself". Looks like the mailserver under virtualmin thinks the emailadress is local and does not resolve it via public dns to find out, that there is a different ip address for it.

How can i fix this? Or even better: What did i miss?

Thank you very much and best

Howdy,

You'd want to both make sure that the Mail for Domain feature is disabled, as well as ensuring that the MX record points to the external mail server, and not the Virtualmin server.

If DNS is hosted at a third party, but the BIND DNS Domain feature is still enabled in Virtualmin, that could cause your Virtualmin server to try and deliver the email locally.

Thanks. It is working now. I should have been able to realize this myself. lol
