The usermin authentication settings default to allowing "local login without password." If you go in there and edit other auth settings, not realizing that this default is broken, your settings-save attempt will fail with "Failed to save authentication : Local authentication requires the lsof program". So: Local auth is enabled in the config by default, but lsof is not on all systems.
Either way, Local auth is a horrible idea. Insecure. Should be removed or disabled.

Yes, that shouldn't be on by default ... and the feature is questionable. Will fix.
