Alias of subserver duplicates parent zone file

I seem to have trouble adding an alias for a subserver.

In my default server template, the option "Add sub-domain DNS records to parent domain?" is enabled and I use the default template for all servers.

So I have a parent server foo.com When I create a subserver bar.foo.com, the DNS records are added to the parent zone file, no problem here. When I create an alias server of the subserver, named foo.foo.com, the foo.com.hosts file is duplicated as foo.foo.com.hosts with the new DNS records added. This obviously gives me "ignoring out-of-zone data" errors.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Running 3.87

I confirm this, as I have run into the same problem using 3.88gpl.

Howdy,

Hmm, you may want to file a bug report about that... you can do that using the Support link above.

Then, Jamie can work with you to figure out what's going wrong there.

Thanks!

Hello,

I didn't actually file a bug report (because I have been busy and didn't get around to taking the time to test things properly), but I tried again with the new 3.89 gpl version today, and it worked correctly.

If this update didn't touch that part of the code, it probably means that I did something wrong the first time...

Oh, and this is as good a place as any to drop a general "thank you for this software, it's great, saves me a lot of headaches". So thank you for that !

Bye, Gamall
