Hi
I have set up LDAP succesfully, though the documention lack some information.
Now I can not log into webmin with root anymore.
How should I log in?
I have a ldapadmin program on my PC with which can log in and do stuff.

So did you install the new development version of webmin that includes support for putting webmin users into ldap?
Or are you using the older support for mailboxes in ldap?
where can I find the new development version of webmin? At the moment I am using the default webmin installation on a Ubuntu 10.04 OS

It is at www.webmin.com/development.html
What exactly are you trying to setup though?
What I really would like to set up is an alternative to Novell's eDirectory and MS Active Directory.
Since Samba4 is not even half way there yet, I suppose I can at least practise with OpenLDAP as I will have to deploy it sooner or later for a rather large project.
I need to have many groups with many different users having different rights. Their space on the server should be a drive in their home PC's Windows Explorer.
The programs running on multiple servers should be accessible through 1 webbased log in.
The server set up is a mix with Linux (CentOS and Ubuntu) and Win Server 2008 where WinServer 2008 is the PDC
your link has an error though:

Sorry, the correct link is http://www.webmin.com/devel.html
I think your project is out of the scope of Virtualmin. All that we support currently is putting mailbox and domain users into LDAP, as documented at http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/id,combining_virtualmin_and_ldap/
In future it will be possible to store Webmin logins and permissions in LDAP too.
