Mailman and Virtualmin behind corporate firewall

3.88.gpl GPL with Debian Squeeze.

Mailman is working well for one of my virtual servers but links redirect list subscribers to http://domain.dom:10000/mail.... and port 10000 is blocked for most.

I would like Mailman links to accessible via port 80. I have tried the techniques in http://www.webmin.com/apache.html (Webmin In A Sub-Directory Via A Proxy, Webmin In A Virtual Host Via A Proxy) but they don't work. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Many thanks

Nick

Haven't tried mailman yet, but you can change the webmin port with

https://your.domain:10000/webmin/edit_bind.cgi

Thanks, yes I was aware that the Webmin port is configurable but only port 80 is available to users and that's already bound to Apache.

Got it. You said you tried the proxypass and proxyreverse directives already, right? Or the 'easy to use' proxypath feature in Virtualmin pro?

(I am sure somebody else has a better idea :-)

In /etc/webmin/config needed: webprefix=/webmin webprefixnoredir=1

In /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf: ssl_redirect=0 ssl=0

In /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: ProxyPass /webmin/ http://localhost:10000/ ProxyPassReverse /webmin/ http://localhost:10000/

... and the redirecting bit works, so I can now access webmin from behind a firewall, but I need to configure mailman's base URLs

Sounds great :-)

How are you dealing with the mail server behind a firewall? Isn't the corporate firewall blocking mail traffic as well? I'm just curious to know how you decided to get around it.

The [virtualmin -> dovecot etc] mail server isn't behind the corporate firewall, but I am during the day and my users are; I need them to be able to access Mailman pages.

The ProxyPass/reverse settings allow me to access everything except the Mailman pages - I'm sure I can crack it ...
