[Solved] Root is a virtual server owner

Hello

I have a problem. I dont know what happened, but when I logged in today to my virtualmin as a root, I see only one domain. I can do everything with it, but nothing more. I have about 30 domains, but when I log in as a root (or other sudoer) I can manage only one, like I was a domain owner. I'm using gpl version

Problem is still. I try to log in as a owner of this domain, and I can't. I can use ftp, or email, but I can't login to virtualmin. I was thinking that the problem mayby is in bad group that user is signed in. Anybody have ANY sugestions? Anythink. Please.

One quick fix for this is to delete the file /etc/webmin/virtual-server/root.acl

Did one of your domains perhaps somehow gets its administration username changed to root though?

You could check for this with a command like :

virtualmin list-domains --user root

''

Very thanks for suggestion. I delete file that You write, but nothing happend. I have all the time access to major functions such as users and groups, or start/stop system, but when I go to password change, system ask my for change pass for the user, that is a owner of the domain in virtualmin. In dns module, i see only entries for this domain. When I use command that You tell me, I get:

root@cork:/# virtualmin list-domains --user root
No top-level domain owned by root exists

Lists the virtual servers on this system.

virtualmin list-domains [--multiline | --name-only | --id-only]
                        [--domain name]*
                        [--user name]*
                        [--with-feature feature]
                        [--without-feature feature]
                        [--alias | --no-alias | --subserver |
                         --toplevel | --subdomain]
                        [--plan ID|"plan name"]

I just realized that you need to remove all root.acl files under /etc/webmin . The command for this would be :

rm /etc/webmin/*/root.acl

''

Very thanks for You! From now on I'm back as master admin.. In Poland we talk that the stone fell from my heart. Ok, on end I have 2 small questions. First, when I delete this files, I only delete permiisions of root acconaunt, and virtualmin recreated when I log in. All other acconaunts permissions, are the same? Second one. I still cannot log as this user, that my root acconaunt was. When I try to log in to virtualmin says tha password wrong. When I change it as a master admin, says the same. Any ideas? And one's more very thanks.

OK, glad that helped .. although I'm still unclear as to how it could happen in the first place.

Regarding the new problems, which user are you unable to login as now?

Ok, I start from the beginig. I have about 30 domains hosted on my virtualmin. I don't how, and why( I must figured out) my root user became one of the virtual server owner in my example user "example". So when I log in to virtualmin as user root, I saw only domain managed by user "example". I was thinking that is something wrong with password or permissions, so I try to log in to virtualmin as user "example", but system told me that login or password is wrong. I give up, and write a post here. I do what You tell me, and my root user is back as master admin, so I am very grateful. I tried to log in as my "example" user, but told me the same - User or pass incorrect. I tried to login (at the same data) to ftp, or ssh, and I can! When I log in to usermin, the system lets me in, but all page is in permission denied text's) I can't log in to virtualmin as I told You.

Thanks for help Rafal

The recommended way to change the password for the example user is to select this domain from the left menu, click on Edit Virtual Server and enter a completely different password. Then edit it again and change it to the password you want.

If this fails, SSH in as root and do a forced password change with a command like :

/usr/libexec/webmin/changepass.pl /etc/webmin example yournewpassword
